Hiatus Unintended

hiatus – an interruption in time or continuity
unintended – not expected to be such (in the future)

Heed this, my testimony, you new parents out there: No matter how well-prepared you think you are, you are not.

When Hubby and I completed training to become foster parents, I expected a lengthy adjustment period. Re-scheduling and new deals? Sure. A pause of our regular and extracurricular activities? Can do! We couldn’t predict what was to come, but we were ready to make adjustments.

I did not expect it to take three months to get back to some kind of normal.

Alas, we have settle down to a new normal with a 14 year old and a six year old. We’re holding onto that normal with all our might, and…

At last, I return to my writing. I must get these swirling stories out of my head. I’ll get back to you with them real soon.
